Community-led responses to climate change

Jeudi 02 Juillet 2020, 19:00 - 20:30

Resilience Talks Cycle 2 – Climate change, the imminent danger that we can’t take (as) seriously (as needed)

In this 3rd talk of our climate series, we are very glad to have Davie Philip with us for our third resilience talk on climate, with special focus on community-led responses to climate change. Davie Philip will give an overview of the concept of community resilience and introduce local examples of community resilience from here in Cloughjordan that any community can adopt to help their local place adapt to climate. His focus is on community led approaches in the areas of food, energy, mobility and housing. After a 20-30min. presentation, there will be space for an open exchange with participants.

Davie Philip is vice-president at ECOLISE, the European network for community-led initiatives on climate change and sustainability. In Ireland he hosts events and facilitates groups working on collaborative approaches to help their localities flourish through the Community Resilience Programme at Cultivate Living and Learning. Locally he is a founding member of Cloughjordan CoHousing, which is developing an affordable neighbourhood model of housing, and is currently the chair of Cloughjordan Community Farm, Ireland’s largest CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) project. Davie was one of the original catalysts of the Transition Towns process.
