For parents/caregivers and babies aged 3 months to crawling
Unlike a standard yoga class where silence is golden, baby yoga is loud, unpredictable, and joyful. The atmosphere is supportive and completely judgment-free.
For the little ones, yoga is essentially „assisted stretching“ through play.
The movements are designed to support their growing bodies:
- Digestive Help: Gentle leg movements, to help relieve gas and colic.
- Motor Skills: „Tummy time“ variations to strengthen the neck and core as well as gentle hip and arms stretches.
- Sensory Play: Using bubbles, colorful scarves, or singing songs to keep them engaged while their limbs are gently guided into stretches.
- Socialization: It’s often a baby’s first chance to stare wide-eyed at another human their own size.
What the Parents Do
Parents (or caregivers) are the „instructors“ for their own babies. However, the class usually includes benefits for the adults too:
- Postnatal Recovery: Gentle stretches focused on the „nursing hunch“ (shoulders and neck) and rebuilding core stability
- Bonding: Deep breathing exercises performed while holding or looking at the baby to strengthen the emotional attachment.
- Community: Parents can benefit from meeting other parents, exchanging, sharing experiences.
